February means Cupid is busy shooting his arrows all around – but love clearly is not simply for couples. Friendships are full of love too! And can be as valuable and important. This February at Artascope, we have been assisting Cupid in the love of friends department; we know Cupid has a tall order this month, so we want to help.
Handmade items are treasured and the gift of time with loved ones is invaluable. To show our love for our creative community (all aspiring creators!), we are offering you a workshop special! Receive $10 off when you sign up with friends family or lovers! Come to the Studios and have fun making beautiful treasures and enjoy time with the people that truly matter. So bring a friend, or two, or three – and let us share the love! (Maximum of $10 off per person).
If you end up with a crew of friends, five or more, you can book a private party at the Studios! Whether it’s a birthday party, an important celebration, or just celebrating friendship -this month the planner or the guest of honor will be on us! (One per group).
Choose from any Art Night Out class on our schedule and give us a call so we can sign you up!
See you at the Studios!

We just recently had our friends from Creative Office Pavilion in our Studios for their annual Team Building Event!
This is the fourth time Creative Office Pavilion has held this event in the fun and creative setting of Artascope Studios. In the past, they have had fun making jewelry, working with fiber arts and this year learned to make stained glass ornaments with our very own Gayle Raposa! While they are here, they made two pieces: one for themselves and one for their annual fundraiser.
Come to these events and have fun with your friends, family and co coworkers in a party environment and nurture their creative side leaving with something they made themselves!
We are available to host your next corporate or private parity in our studios. The events range in size from five up to 20+ people.
Examples of groups that have celebrated with us like Creative Office Pavilion include Dentist offices and even your local Hannaford team. We also can help you celebrate birthdays for you and your child as well as just a social gathering or new hangout for your monthly bookclub.

Our well anticipated ArtEscape! Weekend Intensive finally arrived last night! We’ve been super charged cleaning and setting up the studios for a record size class!
There are over 22 students who have joined in to learn about collage techniques with Claudine Hellmuth. Students travelled as far from Portland, OR and we also had a few of our favorite regulars join us for some collage as well!
Claudine Hellmuth arrived last evening and set up the studios to share her book, Collage Discovery with us. I must say that the beeming grins from everyone’s excitement to meet and work with Claudine has been energizing and inspiring!
The collage techniques were fascinating to watch as students explored layered paper-tearing, processes using vaseline as well as really learning about the joys of gel mediums. Claudine Hellmuth’s book, Collage Discovery inspired many students to join us for the workshop and to pursuit their love of art!

Have you even been curious about what it takes to create your own stamp images?
Several folks have expressed their curisoity with us! Many wished to create their own unique identity for letterboxing, a trademark for handmade greeting cards and even ways to embellish their fabric!
Judy, who holds a BFA in printmaking, shared her skills with the simple and very rewarding process! With just a rubber block and a few carving tools, our students were able to make their designs come to life!
Block printing is such a fun and simple way to personalize! The rubber blocks we used in class are easy to carve and yield fabulous results whether it’s your first or fiftieth carving! The process is much easier than linoleum! And with the proper inks or paints they are perfect for paper and fabric!
If you ever want to check out other amazing stamps folks have designed themself, look up the Art Night Out letterbox on www.letterboxing.org. There are some amazing carvings out there! Every one is richly unique!
Want to give Simple Block Printing a try but missed the Art Night Out™ Workshop? Book your own private party (minimum of 5 people, $45 per person including ALL materials)! Or, purchase your own complete kit online by checking out our ETSY site!
Our next Art Night Out in Simple Block Printing will be in the fall!

This past Saturday, Suzanne packed up the Studio suitcase and headed over into Cape Elizabeth for the annual festivities of Cape Family Fun Day!
The weather was gorgeous, sunny, slight breeze and Suz was grateful to be in the shade! There was even a sailboat race off in the waters, that made for a great view!
To be a part of Cape Family Fun Day, Artascope Studios provided a FREE and fun make and take, mini workshop! Hammered Metal Jewlery is one of our most popular Art Night Out™ workshops for both adults and kids, so we brought in on the road!
Pre-shaped wire hearts, trees and spirals of silver plate and brass wire decorate the table, alongside steel hammering plates and a selection of hammers. With a quick demonstration, anyone and everyone could make a hammered metal pendant!
Suz was excited to have so many folks join her at the make and take! Daughters brought over their friends and moms. Even players from the little league team enjoyed the activity.
We were thrilled to join in the Cape festivities while out having some fun with our neighbors! It was great to see so many familiar faces! And it was our first opportunity to hand out out HOT new Summer ‘09 schedule! To check it out, visit our website!
